Intro.

Kris and Dave met 19 years ago while Kris was in college and Dave was on his first of several enlistments in the Navy. We have 4 beautiful kids. Lucas is 16 and he is the best big brother ever! He loves his brothers and sister. He has been waiting a very long time to be the "big brother".

William, Logan and Jessica were born Oct.25 2007 at 33 weeks and 5 days! They only spent 10 days in the NICU and came home on their big brother's birthday- Nov. 5 !! This blog will be about the ins and outs of our crazy life.

Monday Morning Update - Latest Weights and Shasta Update!

Sorry for the lack of blog posts last week. I kept up with the 365 blog, but was it was a rough end to the week here as Dave and I were both feeling under the weather. I can't wait until Spring and then maybe the kids will stop getting us sick! LOL
Anyway, the visiting nurse was here late last week and weighed everybody. So at 2years 3 months old: William is 22.15lbs, Logan 25.4 lbs and Jessica is 21 lbs even!!
Will is wearing a mix of 18 and 24 month clothes, Logan is in all 24 month clothes and my peanut Jess is just starting to fit into 18 month clothes. They are starting to hit the "terrible twos" and testing, whining and having tantrums with the best!!
I won't lie - some days are tough, very tough, but it is also very cool to see them play with each other and run around chasing each other to give hugs and kisses! and when Jess says "I love you mom" it melts my heart!

The other news of the week is about Shasta. Her blood work and xrays are back and the good news is that it does not appear to be anything too serious! I was really worried about her kidneys, but that test came back great! She does have lyme disease. They don't treat it in dogs like they do in humans, instead they treat the symptoms as they appear. The vet seems to think that Shasta has a little infection as a symptom of her lyme disease and she was put on an antibiotic and we have seen improvement. If she is not back to 100% by the end of the week she has to go back for more blood work. I really hope we don't have to take her back. Aurora was a mess the whole day her sister was gone. They are always together and it really upsets them to be apart. The kids were missing Shasta too!

School Starts for Logan and Jessica!

It felt weird making their lunches last night! I know in a few years I'll be making lunches everyday, but that is a long way off right? LOL Will has been going to school on Mondays for several weeks, but today Logan and Jessica finally started! They were very excited about wearing their backpacks and getting to play and eat lunch with friends! I was not worried about Jess, she is a social butterfly, but I worried a bit about Logan being shy and whatnot. Their therapist stayed with them the whole time and the best part - They did GREAT!!! Logan and Jess played with other kids, participated in all the activities and not one meltdown or diva fit! I am so proud of them and proud of me! Why me you ask? I did not cry dropping them off!

Dave and I had plans to go out to eat breakfast and enjoy our kid free time, but Shasta was not herself over the weekend and had to be seen. The vet said it could be any of a number of things, a reaction to her medication, liver disease, kidney disease, bladder stones, a urinary tract infection, and diabetes are just a few of the possibilities. Her physical went well except for some pain in her lower abdomen, so I don't think it is as simple as a reaction to her meds. Shasta will be having lots of blood work and a couple abdominal x-rays tomorrow. Please pray that it turns out to be nothing too serious. She is my 9 1/2 year old furry baby and I am very worried.

Monday Morning Update - a very quick note

I know many of the people who read my blog look forward to a Monday update. I promise to get a real one to you later today. Shasta is sick and we are headed to the vet this am. I am very worried and will post later.

Oh, by the way, all 3 kids go to school today!!!

Lucas' New Teeth!

Can you see those two tiny teeth right in front on the bottom? Those are his Baby Teeth! He does not have adult teeth under them so they never got pushed out! Lucas recently has become somewhat shy about the way his smile looks and since we found out that braces are several months to a year away, we decided to go ahead and have the dentist work on them.
Here is another shot. sorry for the blurriness, Lucas took the pic himself, but it gives you a much better idea of what his teeth look like.

and here is the end result! He now has a smile with all the teeth looking alike! He was so excited when he saw the end result! I think we will be seeing a much bigger smile from now on!

A Tuesday Update

I know I usually update on Mondays but with the holiday yesterday I am a day behind. Sorry.
We had a quiet weekend. Dave and I took the kids for swim lessons in the morning on Saturday. Logan and Jess are really enjoying the lessons, but Will is still a little unsure about the whole thing. He spent the whole time clinging to me for dear life. He was doing so good last year, I hope a few more classes and he starts to enjoy it. Lucas is taking an advanced swim lesson and having a great time too!
The rest of the weekend was spent pretty uneventfully hanging out at the house, watching football and just enjoying some quality family time.

Yesterday Lucas had an orthodontist appointment. We know braces are in his future and we thought maybe this winter, but he still has a few baby teeth to lose! They want to see him in the summer to hopefully get a plan together about what exactly they are going to do and how long he will need to be in braces. He has become rather self conscience of the two baby teeth in the front on the bottom. The orthodontist says that his regular dentist should be able to add filling to make them look like big teeth until we decide how to proceed! Lucas is very excited about this idea! We see the dentist tomorrow!

Dave noticed that Logan's shoes were getting hard to put on the last few times and we decided after dinner to hit Payless. Turns out that Logan is up almost a full size and a half! We left the store with new sneakers for everyone. Jess a size 6, Will a size 7 and Logan a size 9! Logan seems to be hitting a growth spurt - he is in the 87% for his height and now the shoe size change! I have him in all 24 month/2T clothes! Anyway, the best part of the trip- it was only $29 for all three pairs of sneaks!

Both yesterday and today, the kids and I had morning playgroups! It was so fun to get out of the house and talk to other moms. Here is just an example of how cute they can be when they play with each other nicely! If you want to see more go check out the 365 blog!
